Browne Group Architects evolved from the original firm, Wangenheim-Browne Group, Inc., founded in 1978 by Larry R. Browne and Alfred P. Wangenheim in Columbus, Ohio. The firm developed a strong client base of multifamily residential developers and industrial and commercial developers in the first few years of business. The firm’s goal was to provide quality and responsive design and architectural services at an affordable price. This same goal has been the hallmark of our firm since it was founded.
In 1981, Mr. Wangenheim relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, and Larry Browne bought out the interests of Mr. Wangenheim and became sole owner of Browne Group Architects. The firm continued to work with its client base of multifamily residential and commercial owners and developed new markets in restaurants and commercial tenant finish and build-out projects. By 1990, the firm had grown to a staff of twelve with three distinct divisions: the restaurant division, the multifamily and commercial division, and the custom single family home division.
In the early 1990’s the construction industry was moving through the difficulties of a recession and Browne Group Architects expanded on its expertise in residential work to develop a new market in low income, subsidized and public housing. This market continued to expand until today as Browne Group Architects has a repeat client base of over thirty six public housing agencies in Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland and Kentucky as well as subsidized and market rate multifamily clients in five states.
Browne Group Architects continues to provide responsive, quality and affordably priced architectural services for governmental agencies as well as corporate and private clients.
Our staff of professionals provides the foundation and possesses the expertise necessary to produce a successful project meeting the needs of the client and community while adhering to the constraints of budgets and time frames.
